They say that there is no such thing as the perfect season. Even the best of teams have their ups and downs, and this has proven to be the case time and again. World class teams give it their all for a long and gruelling season, only to end with a whimper, to have little, sometimes nothing to add to the trophy cabinet. If ever there was a perfect season, FC Barcelona’s triumph at the Stadio Olimpico last night capped was it. This was a treble of unprecedented proportions, and one can only admire such sheer brilliance.

Chelsea V Liverpool

Liverpool go to Chelsea tonight requiring a minor miracle. They need to win by three clear goals at Stamford Bridge (or win 3-1 and send it into extra time).

Both teams are in great form, Hiddink has worked wonders on this Chelsea side bringing out the best in players who were having terrible seasons under Felipe Scolari. Liverpool have been on cloud nine since thrashing Man Utd 4-1, with the exception of the first leg of this tie, much to their dismay. (more…)

Once upon a time Barcelona was leading La Liga by twelve points and were in scintillating form, many suggesting they were the favourites for the UEFA Champions League as well. What a difference three weeks makes. Barcelona’s lead has now been slashed from a seemingly unconquerable twelve points, to a very vulnerable four points.
